The Spiritual Principle of Agency
Understanding this principle will unlock many mysteries in Scripture.
Within our Common Law systems is entrenched a principle that Courts have upheld since they have been available to citizens to obtain justice where wrongful deeds have been enacted against them.
That principle is the Principal and Agent.
This principle decrees that the deeds of the Agent of a Principal are as if the Principal had performed them himself. The Agent represents the Principal in every dealing as if the Principal were speaking directly.
We see this principle at work in Ambassadorial appointments of Government, where diplomats are sent to foreign nations to become the voice of their represented national government authority. These ambassadors speak with the authority of the Head of State as if the Head of State were present themselves.
But where did this principle originate?
As in all things, we look to the scriptures for enlightenment.
As in most of our foundational spiritual principles, the answer is in Genesis 1-11.
Genesis 1:26-29 ESV Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (28) And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Right at the creation of man, on the sixth day of creation, we see this principle enacted. The man was created in Yah’s image and directed by Yah to have dominion over all of His creation. They were directed to multiply and nurture all of Yah’s creation.
In effect, Yah (the Principal) had created Man (the Agent) to steward all of His creation. As Yah’s Agent, Man would steward creation as if Yah was present Himself.
This is so important to grasp.
When we understand this deeply rooted spiritual principle, the whole nonsensical man-made argument of Trinitarian vs Unitarian falls into dust.
The principle of Principal and Agent has operated from Day 6 of creation. Yah appoints Agents as He pleases to represent Him in the Heavenlies AND on Earth.
However one of His Agents in the Heavenlies, Lucifer, the Angel of Light, rebelled, wanting to be as Yah, and we see him enter the Biblical Narrative early in Chapter 3 of Genesis. This successful deception of man by Satan was rewarded by Yah with Satan gaining spiritual control over the Earth and mankind:
Genesis 3:14-15 ASV And Jehovah God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: (15) and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
From that moment on, mankind would become either an Agent of Yah, or an Agent of Satan. How this spiritual battle plays out in life is portrayed in the account of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4.
Genesis 4:3-8 ESV In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground, (4) and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, (5) but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. (6) The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? (7) If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.” (8) Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
Cain offered Yah some fruit from his crop. It was not anything special, just some fruit that was available to him to pick and left over after consumption. However, Abel offered Yah the firstborn of his flock, the fattest portions.
Herein lies the definition of spiritual submission.
As an Agent of Yah, you give Him your first and best, not what is left over after consumption. If you are not an Agent of Yah, you are an Agent of Satan.
The definitive statement of Paul in 2 Corinthians 5 describes this Principal/Agent relationship with Christ as its center:
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (18) All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; (19) that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. (20) Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. (21) For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
If we are in Christ, the Agent of Yah, we are reconciled to Yah. Through this reconciliation with Yah, we also become His Agents of reconciliation. Paul calls us Ambassadors, a political term inferring that the Agent for the Government (the ambassador) speaks with the full authority of the Government he represents. We speak with the full authority of Christ, whom we represent on Earth.
Let us not cower into the anonymous worldliness of Laodicea any longer, let us burn bright the lamp on top of the hill, the Christ that dwells in us.
Let us reconcile the world to Yah through Christ Jesus, our Master.
As Agents of Christ (the Principal), we speak with His full authority.
Most of you will not get this, I know.
Most Laodiceans have their seed in the thorns (Matthew 13, Parable of the Seed and the Sower), as the Satanic deception of riches and comfort throttle whatever spiritual discernment was once evident.
I pray you see the light!
